"Joneses" is probably Alan's biggest hit. He wrote the words and music and played all the instruments on this recording. And sang all the vocals and recorded it himself in his bedroom on Boxwood Drive in Franklin, TN. It has been played numerous times by Alan and The Pencils, and covered by the likes of John Hagewood and Ice Mac Sea. One of the things I love most about it is the way Alan sings this one; it sounds serious but not tragic and just a hint of irony.
